Tags
Tags are free-form labels you attach to leads for segmentation, filtering, and automation targeting.
Creating a Tagโ
Tags are created in two ways:
Method 1 โ From the Tag Manager:
- Go to Leads โ Tags in the sidebar.
- Click New Tag.
- Enter a name and optional color.
- Click Save.
Method 2 โ On the fly: When editing a lead, type a new tag name in the Tags field and press Enter. The tag is created automatically.
Applying Tags to Leadsโ
Single lead:
- Open the lead detail view.
- Click Edit.
- In the Tags field, select existing tags or type to create new ones.
- Save.
Bulk apply:
- Select multiple leads in the leads list using checkboxes.
- Click Bulk Actions โ Add Tag.
- Select the tag and confirm.
Filtering by Tagโ
On the leads list, use the Tag filter to show only leads with a specific tag (or combination of tags).
Using Tags in Automationsโ
Tags are a core part of the automation engine:
- Trigger: Tag Added to Lead โ fire an automation when a specific tag is applied
- Condition: Lead Has Tag โ check if a lead has a tag before proceeding
- Condition: Lead Does Not Have Tag โ check absence of a tag
- Action: Add Tag โ apply a tag as an automation step
- Action: Remove Tag โ remove a tag as an automation step
Managing Tagsโ
Go to Leads โ Tags to:
- View all tags with lead counts
- Edit tag name or color
- Delete a tag (removes it from all leads โ the leads themselves are not deleted)
Best Practicesโ
- Use tags for campaign tracking (e.g. "webinar-2026-q1", "promo-black-friday")
- Use tags to mark lead intent (e.g. "hot-lead", "needs-follow-up", "dnc")
- Keep tag names lowercase and hyphenated for consistency
- Combine tags with automation to auto-tag incoming leads by source or behavior
