Email Sequences

An Email Sequence is a series of emails sent to a lead automatically over time (a "drip campaign"). Once a lead is enrolled, the sequence sends each email at the configured delay.

What an Email Sequence Containsโ€‹

A sequence is a list of steps, each consisting of:

  • An Email Template to send
  • A Delay โ€” how long to wait after the previous step before sending

Example sequence:

StepEmailDelay
1Welcome EmailImmediately (0 days)
2Getting Started Tips2 days after step 1
3Feature Spotlight5 days after step 2
4Check-In / Offer7 days after step 3

Creating an Email Sequenceโ€‹

  1. Go to Automations โ†’ Email Sequences in the sidebar.
  2. Click New Email Sequence.
  3. Enter a Name for the sequence.
  4. Add steps:
    • Click Add Step
    • Select the Email Template
    • Set the Delay (days after the previous step)
  5. Click Save.

Enrolling a Lead in a Sequenceโ€‹

Leads can be enrolled in a sequence in two ways:

Via Automation Action:

  • Add an Enroll in Sequence action to any automation.
  • When the automation fires, the lead is automatically enrolled.

Manually:

  1. Open the lead detail view.
  2. Go to the Email Sequences tab.
  3. Click Enroll and select the sequence.

Sequence Status per Leadโ€‹

The Email Sequences tab on a lead shows:

  • All sequences the lead is enrolled in
  • Status: Active, Completed, or Cancelled
  • Which step has been sent and which is pending
  • Scheduled send time for the next step

Cancelling a Sequence Enrollmentโ€‹

To stop a sequence for a specific lead:

  1. Open the lead detail view โ†’ Email Sequences tab.
  2. Click Cancel next to the active sequence.

The lead will not receive any further emails from that sequence.

Duplicate Enrollment Protectionโ€‹

If you try to enroll a lead in a sequence they are already active in, the system skips the enrollment (no duplicate). A lead can only be in each sequence once at a time.

Unsubscribe Handlingโ€‹

Every sequence email includes an unsubscribe link. If a lead clicks it, they are unenrolled from all sequences and their email address is marked as opted out. Further sequence emails will not be sent to them.

  • Email Templates โ€” create the email content for each step
  • Actions โ€” use "Enroll in Sequence" as an automation action
