Next Best Action Coaching
What It Isโ
Next Best Action is an AI coach built into every lead's detail page. It looks at the lead's situation โ how long since they were last contacted, their lead score, their pipeline stage, their open tasks โ and suggests exactly what to do next to move them forward.
Instead of staring at a lead and wondering "what should I do with this one?", you get three specific, ranked suggestions.
Where to Find Itโ
Open any lead's detail page. Look for the AI Coaching panel โ it appears as a card on the right side of the lead detail view (or below the lead information, depending on your screen size).
The panel automatically shows three suggestions, ranked by priority (High, Medium, Low).
Example Suggestionsโ
Here are the kinds of suggestions the AI coaching gives:
- "This lead has not been contacted in 3 days โ send a follow-up email to stay top of mind."
- "Lead score is 82 โ this lead is showing strong engagement signals. Move them to the Qualified stage."
- "There are no open tasks for this lead. Create a follow-up task for this week."
- "This lead's last activity was a form submission 12 days ago with no response. Consider re-engagement with a different approach."
- "The lead is at the Proposal stage but has no company information. Enrich the profile before sending a proposal."
Each suggestion includes a short explanation of why the action is recommended.
How It Worksโ
When you open a lead detail page, LeadHub gathers context about the lead:
- How many days since the lead was created
- How many days since they were last contacted
- How many days since the last activity was logged
- Their current lead score
- Their current pipeline stage
- How many open tasks they have
- Their job title and industry (if known)
This information is sent to OpenAI, which generates three prioritized action recommendations based on sales best practices.
Rule-Based Fallback (No AI Key Required)โ
If no OpenAI API key is configured, the AI Coaching panel still works โ it just uses built-in rules instead of AI.
The rule-based suggestions cover common scenarios:
- No contact in X days โ suggest a follow-up
- High lead score โ suggest moving to next stage
- No tasks open โ suggest creating a task
- Lead is new โ suggest making first contact
The rule-based suggestions are simpler and less personalized than AI suggestions, but still useful. No API key or additional configuration is required for the rule-based mode.
Acting on Suggestionsโ
The coaching panel is informational โ it suggests, but does not act automatically. You decide whether to follow a suggestion.
If you want to act on a suggestion:
- Click the Log Activity or Add Task button on the lead detail page to act immediately
- Or simply follow the suggestion in your own workflow
The suggestions refresh each time you open the lead detail page, so they always reflect the current state of the lead.
