Preview Pane

The Preview Pane shows email content in a split-view layout, allowing you to read emails without opening them in a separate page. This Gmail-style feature improves productivity by letting you quickly scan and read emails.

What is the Preview Pane?โ€‹

The Preview Pane displays:

  • Email list on the left
  • Email preview on the right
  • Full email content without leaving the list view
  • Quick actions and navigation

Benefits: Read emails faster, see email content while browsing the list, quick navigation between emails.

The Preview Pane is available by default. You can toggle it on/off using the interface button.


Toggling Preview Paneโ€‹

Enable Preview Paneโ€‹

  1. Navigate to Mailbox โ†’ Emails
  2. Look for the Preview Pane toggle button (usually in the toolbar)
  3. Click to enable split-view
  4. Email list and preview will appear side-by-side

Disable Preview Paneโ€‹

  1. Click the Preview Pane toggle button again
  2. Preview pane will close
  3. Only email list is shown

Using Preview Paneโ€‹

Viewing Emailsโ€‹

  1. Click any email in the list
  2. Email content appears in the preview pane
  3. Scroll to read full email
  4. Click another email to switch preview
  • Click email in list: Shows in preview pane
  • Arrow keys: Navigate up/down through emails
  • Scroll: Scroll preview pane to read content

Quick Actionsโ€‹

From the preview pane, you can:

  • Reply / Forward / Archive / Delete
  • Star / Tag / Mark as Important

Preview Pane Settingsโ€‹

Auto-mark as Readโ€‹

When preview pane is enabled, emails can be automatically marked as read when previewed. This is controlled by the Auto-mark as Read on Preview setting.

To Configure:

  1. Go to Setup โ†’ Settings โ†’ Mailbox Settings
  2. Find Auto-mark as Read on Preview
  3. Select Yes or No
  4. Or configure per-staff in Mailbox Config

Best Practicesโ€‹

  1. Use for Quick Scanning - Preview pane is great for quickly scanning emails
  2. Toggle as Needed - Enable/disable based on your workflow
  3. Keyboard Navigation - Use arrow keys for faster navigation
  4. Full View for Long Emails - Open full view for very long or detailed emails

Important Notesโ€‹

  • Preview pane shows email content but may truncate very long emails
  • Some complex HTML emails may render differently in preview
  • Preview pane works with all folders (Inbox, Sent, Archive, etc.)
  • Preview pane state is remembered per user
  • Auto-mark as read can be configured per-staff or globally
