Installing Vertex on Your Shopify Store

This guide walks you through installing Vertex on your Shopify store — from picking up the theme, through enabling native B2B (optional), choosing a starter look, and publishing.

Estimated time
  • Basic B2C install (theme only, no B2B): 5 minutes
  • Full B2B install (theme + native B2B + first company): 45–60 minutes

Before you start

You needWhy
Any Shopify planVertex installs on every plan — Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus
Shopify Plus OR Advanced + B2B add-onOnly required if you want to use Shopify's native B2B features. Without them, Vertex still runs as a polished B2C industrial-supply theme.
Customer accounts enabledRequired for any account features. Open Settings ▸ Customer accounts and turn on New customer accounts.

Step 1 — Add Vertex to your store

You can install Vertex two ways. The Theme Store is the most common.

From the Shopify Theme Store

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store ▸ Themes
  2. Click Add theme ▸ Visit Theme Store
  3. Search for "Vertex" or browse the B2B & Wholesale category
  4. Click Try theme to add Vertex to your Theme library (unpublished)
  5. Click Customize to open the Customizer

From a downloaded zip

If you received Vertex as a zip file:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store ▸ Themes
  2. Click Add theme ▸ Upload zip file
  3. Select the Vertex zip and upload
  4. Once it appears in the Theme library, click Customize
Your live store is unchanged

At this point Vertex is installed but not published. You can preview and configure it without affecting your current storefront. Publishing happens in the last step.

Step 2 — Enable Shopify's native B2B (optional)

Skip this step if you only want a B2C storefront — Vertex's B2B chrome auto-hides when no business buyer is signed in.

  1. Go to Settings ▸ Customer accounts
  2. Enable New customer accounts
  3. Scroll to B2B and click Manage
  4. Click Enable B2B

A new B2B section appears in your Shopify admin sidebar. From there you can create companies, assign catalogs, set NET-terms, and configure tax exemption.

→ See the full B2B setup guide for creating your first company.

Step 3 — Choose your starter preset

Vertex ships with four ready-to-go looks. Pick one to match your industry.

PresetIndustryAccent
Vertex (default)Industrial / MROAmber
ThrottleAuto partsRed-orange
OfficeITOffice & IT supplyBlue
InklinePrint suppliesTeal

To switch presets:

  1. In the Customizer, click the cogwheel icon (bottom-left) labeled Theme settings
  2. Open Colors
  3. Pick your starter palette from the Starter color palette dropdown
  4. The whole storefront recolors in the preview pane

→ See the Demo presets guide for differences between presets.

In the Customizer's left sidebar you'll see the sections that make up each template.

  1. Click Header to set your logo, menus, announcement bar, and B2B greeting bar
  2. Click Footer to set your footer menu, social links, contact email, newsletter signup, and payment icons
  3. Click through homepage sections to customize the hero, featured products, brand strip, testimonials, and more

→ See Theme settings reference for the full Customizer walkthrough.

Step 5 — Preview, then publish

  1. In the Customizer, click Preview (top right) to open your storefront in a new tab
  2. Click through:
    • Homepage
    • A collection page
    • A product page
    • The cart
    • The customer login page
  3. If a B2B buyer test account is set up, sign in and verify:
    • The amber greeting bar shows the company name and NET-terms badge
    • Volume pricing tiers render on the product page (if the buyer's catalog has tiered pricing)
    • The sales-rep card shows in the header (if the company has a rep configured)
  4. Back in Online Store ▸ Themes, find Vertex in the Theme library
  5. Click the menu next to Vertex ▸ Publish

Your storefront is now live on Vertex. Open the Customizer and start configuring.

Troubleshooting installation

"I don't see the amber B2B greeting bar"

In order of likelihood:

  1. You're not signed in as a B2B customer. The bar only renders for signed-in business buyers attached to a company. Sign in as a B2B buyer to test.
  2. Storefront mode is set to B2C-only. Open Theme settings ▸ B2B ▸ Storefront mode and confirm it's set to Hybrid (auto) or B2B-only.
  3. Native B2B isn't enabled. Confirm Step 2 above.

"Prices show 'Log in to see pricing' even though I'm logged in"

The Theme settings ▸ B2B ▸ Hide prices until customer logs in toggle is enabled. That setting hides prices for guests only — signed-in customers should always see prices. Toggle it off to fix.

"The sales-rep card doesn't appear in the header"

The card only shows when the buyer's company has a sales rep configured. Open Customers ▸ Companies ▸ [Company name] and check that the rep name is filled in.
