Short Links

The Short Links feature is the core of the URL Shortener module. It allows you to generate compact, shareable URLs for any destination -- whether it's a client-facing page, a marketing campaign URL, or an internal resource.

To create a new short link:

  1. Navigate to the URL Shortener section in the CRM sidebar.
  2. Click the Create Link button.
  3. Fill in the required fields:
    • Destination URL -- The full URL you want to shorten (e.g., https://example.com/products/special-offer).
    • Title -- A descriptive name for the link to help you identify it later.
    • Custom Alias (optional) -- Define a custom slug for the short link instead of an auto-generated one.
  4. Optionally attach a Splash Page to display promotional content before the redirect.
  5. Click Save to generate the short link.
tip

Use descriptive titles for your links so team members can quickly identify them in the link list. For example, "Q1 Marketing Campaign - Landing Page" is more helpful than "Link 1".

All created short links are displayed in a centralized list view within the URL Shortener section. From this view, you can:

  • Search and Filter -- Use the search bar and filter options to quickly find specific links by title, destination URL, or creation date.
  • Edit Links -- Click on any link to update its destination URL, title, alias, or attached splash page.
  • Delete Links -- Remove links that are no longer needed. Deleted links will return a 404 error to visitors.
  • Copy to Clipboard -- Quickly copy the shortened URL for sharing via email, chat, or other channels.

Custom Aliasesโ€‹

By default, the module generates a random short code for each link. However, you can specify a custom alias to create more memorable and branded links:

  • Custom aliases must be unique across all your short links.
  • Only alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores are allowed.
  • Keep aliases short and descriptive for best results (e.g., spring-sale or webinar-2026).
warning

Changing a custom alias after the link has been shared will break the original URL. Visitors using the old link will receive a 404 error. Always plan your aliases carefully before distributing them.

Access to short links is governed by Concord CRM's user permission system. Administrators can configure which roles have the ability to:

  • Create new short links.
  • Edit existing links created by other users.
  • Delete links.
  • View link analytics and visit data.

To configure permissions, navigate to Settings โ†’ Roles & Permissions and adjust the URL Shortener section for each role.

Bulk Operationsโ€‹

When managing a large number of links, you can use bulk operations to:

  • Select multiple links from the list view.
  • Perform batch actions such as deletion.
  • Export link data for external reporting or archival purposes.
