Splash Pages
Splash pages allow you to display a branded intermediate page before visitors are redirected to the final destination. This is ideal for showing promotional messages, disclaimers, or countdown timers that build anticipation before the redirect occurs.
What is a Splash Pageโ
A splash page is a temporary landing page that appears when someone clicks your short link. Instead of immediately redirecting to the destination URL, the visitor first sees your custom content -- such as a promotional banner, informational notice, or branded message -- along with a countdown timer. Once the countdown completes, the visitor is automatically redirected to the intended destination.
Creating a Splash Pageโ
To create a new splash page:
- Navigate to the URL Shortener section in the CRM sidebar.
- Go to the Splash Pages tab or area.
- Click Create Splash Page.
- Configure the splash page settings:
- Page Title -- A name for the splash page (visible to CRM users for identification).
- Heading -- The main heading displayed to visitors on the splash page.
- Content -- The body text or promotional message shown to visitors. This field supports rich text formatting.
- Countdown Duration -- Set the number of seconds before the automatic redirect (e.g., 5, 10, or 15 seconds).
- Call-to-Action Text (optional) -- Customize the text on the redirect button (e.g., "Continue to site" or "Visit now").
- Click Save to create the splash page.
Keep your splash page content concise and visually appealing. Visitors are waiting to be redirected, so a brief, focused message works best. Aim for one clear headline and a short supporting sentence.
Attaching a Splash Page to a Linkโ
Once you have created a splash page, you can attach it to any short link:
- Open the short link you want to edit (or create a new one).
- In the link settings, find the Splash Page dropdown.
- Select the splash page you want to display for this link.
- Save the changes.
When visitors click the short link, they will see the selected splash page with the countdown timer before being redirected to the destination URL.
A single splash page can be reused across multiple short links. This is useful when you want a consistent branded experience for all links in a marketing campaign.
Managing Splash Pagesโ
From the Splash Pages list view, you can:
- Edit existing splash pages to update content, headings, or countdown settings.
- Preview a splash page to see how it will appear to visitors.
- Delete splash pages that are no longer needed.
Deleting a splash page that is currently attached to active short links will cause those links to redirect immediately without showing any intermediate page. Verify which links are using a splash page before removing it.
Use Casesโ
Splash pages are versatile and can be used in a variety of scenarios:
- Promotional Campaigns -- Display a limited-time offer or coupon code before redirecting to a product page.
- Affiliate Links -- Show a brief disclaimer or disclosure notice before sending visitors to an affiliate URL.
- Event Registrations -- Present event details or a welcome message before redirecting to the registration form.
- Content Gating -- Add a brief delay with a teaser message before redirecting to premium content.
Best Practicesโ
- Set countdown timers between 5 and 10 seconds -- long enough for visitors to read the message but short enough to avoid frustration.
- Use clear, action-oriented call-to-action text so visitors know what to expect after the countdown.
- Test your splash pages on both desktop and mobile devices to ensure the layout looks good across screen sizes.
