Activation

After installing the Flat Theme files into your Perfex CRM root directory, you need to activate it as the default customers theme from the admin panel.

Overviewโ€‹

Activation is a simple process that tells Perfex CRM to use the Flat Theme instead of the default theme for all customer-facing pages. This includes the login screen, customer dashboard, invoices, estimates, proposals, and any other pages accessible to your customers.

Activating the Flat Themeโ€‹

Follow these steps to enable the Flat Theme:

  1. Log in to the Perfex CRM admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Setup โ†’ Settings โ†’ Customers.
  3. Find the Default customers theme setting.
  4. Select Flat from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click Save to apply the changes.
tip

If you do not see "Flat" in the dropdown, the theme files were not installed correctly. Go back to the Getting Started guide and verify that the files were extracted into the correct root directory.

After Activationโ€‹

Once you have saved the setting, perform the following steps to ensure the theme loads properly:

  1. Clear server-side caches โ€” If you use any caching services (CloudFlare, Redis, Varnish, OPcache, etc.), clear them so the new theme files are served.
  2. Hard refresh your browser to bypass local cached stylesheets and scripts:
    • Windows / Linux: Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R
    • macOS: Cmd + Shift + R
  3. Visit the customer portal (frontend) in a new browser tab or incognito window to verify the Flat Theme is applied.
info

It is recommended to check the customer portal in an incognito/private browser window to ensure you are seeing the latest version without any cached assets.

Troubleshootingโ€‹

If the Flat Theme does not appear after activation, check the following:

IssueSolution
"Flat" not in dropdownRe-upload the theme files to the correct Perfex CRM root directory
Theme partially loadsClear all caches (server and browser) and perform a hard refresh
Old theme still showingCheck if a CDN or reverse proxy is serving cached content; purge the CDN cache
Styling looks brokenVerify that all files were extracted properly and no files were skipped during upload
warning

If you are using a CDN such as CloudFlare, make sure to purge the cache after activation. CDNs can serve stale CSS and JavaScript files, which may cause the old theme to persist.
